Palace, 2022, 1’24’’
This piece is my first Cinema 4D artwork and is a continuation of my previous work “Dream in Blood”. The soundtrack is a remix of the closing song from a very classic Chinese television drama called “Empresses in the Palace”. This show mainly tells the story of the women from Qing dynasty were treated as reproductive tools, and they competed with each other for the favor of the emperor in order to live a better life, not only for themselves, but also their families. Besides the reference to the ancient times, the inclusion of the cyborg figure as the main character in the piece also shows my pessimistic view to women’s future that they still cannot have the total control of their own bodies that their physical development may be manipulated through advancement in technology in order to meet the demand of the entire human community.
